My name is Catherine Marie Huffman and I am 11 years old. I live with both of my parents and my baby brother David who is only a year old. My father works at the Ministry of Magic in the Department for the continuation of magical cooperation between Muggles and Wizards alike. It's a small department but he enjoys his job and brings home enough money to send me to Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry. My mother used to work as an Accountant and a personal assistant to a wealthy muggle business owner, that is until my brother was born. Now she stays home and tends to him, making sure that he grows up right like I did. I love my parents a lot.
And in case you hadn't noticed I'm a half blood. Probably pretty obvious. My father was a pure blood and a Ravenclaw when he was at school and my mother was a muggle born. They met on a business trip that my dad was making a long time ago back when my mother was serving coffee to the people on the trip. The story that they tell me is that she accidently spilled coffee down dad and that they had been together ever since. I think it's rather cute myself, I mean I'd love to meet someone on accident and spend the rest of my life with them, especially if they are like my dad or my mom. I guess I have a pretty high opinion of them because I feel like they raised me to be respectful, and a good person.
I guess this leads me to my next little topic since I already talked about my parents I guess I'll talk about myself a little bit. I've got dark brown hair and a pretty thin body, slightly weak ankles like my father, and an alright chest for an 11 year old. I'm not tall but I'm built fairly small and thankfully have not hit that growth spurt that my mother says is just bound to happen. My eyes are plain as well as my face, they are sort of small, and not a deep blue or a vibrant blue but a boring cloudy gray blue. Nothing special. I generally wear blues and darker colors not only because I feel more comfortable in them but also because I think they bring a little bit of color out of my eyes and draw attention to them.
Of course drawing attention to myself isn't something that I normally practice. Having grown up as an only child I'm pretty shy, and quiet, and I normally can't talk for very long without feeling like no one cares what I have to say. I'd consider myself very observant because I don't like to talk that much and I notice things that a lot of people would overlook. I think that's what makes me a good artist. Now I really don't want to brag because I'm no famous artist or anything but I really enjoy sketching and even a little bit of poetry or writing here or there. Most of the time I draw lay out sketches though, like maps and stuff. I got into it when my family moved houses and we ended up near a little forest. I sketched the tree's but after a while that got really dull, so I moved on to doing maps so I could find my way.
Of course it wasn't really a forest, just a patch of tree's, but to an 8 year old that's huge. After that I moved on to harder things like maps of my house, floor plans for our bed rooms and even my neighborhood. I don't want to brag, really I don't, but I think I've got a fairly descent scale lay out of the ministry done. I think it's the most complete one ever except the actual floor plans. When I get to Hogwarts I want to draw maps of the floors too, so that I don't get lost, plus it will be a lot of fun since I hear that the stair cases move and the doors change places. I eventually want to learn all about everything there and know all of the small places. I guess that sounds pretty stupid, oh well.
Alright so anyway I'm writing this on the train to Hogwarts. And I've already met two people who are really nice. Well I mean...Sort of. Ok, let me explain. When I boarded the train I looked for an empty compartment which was hard, I past a few and looked in only to see a lot of people. I didn't want to be around a lot of people so I kept walking and pulling my trunk, which was really hard because I'm not exactly sure if we are allowed to use magic yet and my trunk doesn't have wheels. However eventually I found an empty compartment and walked into it sitting down, then I realized I had to put my case on the rack above my head. Carefully, and dressed in my robes, I started trying to lift it, I was unsuccessful.
Then I stood on top of one of the chairs or seats and started pulling it upwards. It was then that a girl walked in, she told me her name was Meka and that she was a first year. She was looking for her cat that she had lost. I must admit that I was slightly intimidated by her as her hair was died and she had peircings and looked like someone that I would normally avoid. Our conversation was forced but we managed to talk for a moment before she found her cat and after she came back. After a while she left and I was alone, which normally would have been perfectly acceptable if it were not for the fact that my suit case was still on the top of the luggage rack and I could not reach it.
So I took out my hair brush and I started combing through my hair then I took to stairing out of the window. That was when a boy walked in, I think I startled him slightly because he didn't know that I was there. He's tall, nearly 8 inches taller then me, with a nice body and georgeous hair and eyes. He's amazing. He wants to go out for his house quidditch team, and he seems really athletic. We talked for a while about casual things, the usual about siblings and school and what we liked doing. He's sort of arrogant and has an odd personality he's sort of well...he is really relaxed. His names Aaron by the way, Aaron Dreggy. I swear to you that he came out of heaven, a true prodogy. I bet he'll be in Gryffindor because he seems pretty brave, but then again in only the short time I've spoken to him he's proved to be loyal, smart, and maybe a little bit ambitious also. Alright this sounds stupid, I know...but I think I already have a crush.
Can you really blame me?
So with no friends to speak of, and a huge crush on someone that only talks to me out of politeness I shall end this entry. Hopefully soon we shall be arriving at school where I can be sorted. If I'm lucky I shall even get Ravenclaw like my father. Wish me the best of luck! (I'll need it.)
